Michael Gottlieb


Mike Gottlieb is Chair of the Washington Policymakers Network and its state affiliates. In nearly twenty years of government experience, Mike has worked with all three branches of federal government under both Republican and Democratic Administrations, most recently as a Special Assistant to the President of the United States and Associate White House Counsel. Mike previously served as an adviser to the Department of Health and Human Services under the George W. Bush Administration and as a clerk to the Honorable Thomas B. Griffith, Associate Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, appointed by President Bush, As an attorney with a focus on appellate advocacy, Mike’s practice was largely pro bono, successfully representing clients before the U.S. Supreme Court and in their petitions to be heard.

A US-UK Fulbright Scholar, Mike holds degrees from Yale College, Yale Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, Yale Law School, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of London. He has taught and lectured at Yale, Harvard, and Georgetown. Mike serves as a mentor to students in Washington, DC, and as an associate Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force Reserve.

Taryn Thiele-Sardina

Deputy Chair

Taryn Thiele-Sardina is the Deputy Chair of the Policymakers Network at National Journal, a professional development resource for the Washington community that serves federal and state-level policymakers. In this role, Taryn leads content programming and operations for the Network and serves as a liaison to individual participating policymakers. Taryn previously served in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel and at the National Venture Capitalist Association. She graduated from Boston University with honors in biological anthropology and political science.

Jason Clark

Senior Advisor

Jason Clark is a Senior Advisor to the Policymakers Network, where he works to develop services, programming, and research in the spirit of serving and helping policymakers. As a founding member of the Policymakers Network, Jason is driven by a mission to improve the conversation in Washington by supporting federal and state policymakers in their work and careers. Additionally, Jason serves as the Senior Director of Strategy for Ballast Research, a division of National Journal Group. A native of Colorado, Jason previously worked in strategic business consulting, product innovation, and research before moving to DC.
